Our beloved furry angel, Lola, a Border Collie mix of 15 and a half years of age, crossed the rainbow bridge to join her sisters, Lucy, JoJo, and Hannah, yesterday, July 15th, 2023. She was born sometime in December 2007 (estimated) and crossed our road on July 4th, 2008. Lola had a broken leg and was barely alive, skin and bones, and a lot of fleas and ticks on her. But she was still feisty, barking at us – she was with another hurting stray and was trying to protect them both. We brought water and food back out to the road to help them that evening but were catching a plane the next day to fly to Las Vegas. Reluctantly we left them on their own, but asked neighbors and co-workers to help them. When we arrived at the airport in Vegas, I
called Lise Burnett to ask her to try to help them until we got back home. Lise has a true loving heart for those in need of rescue. She took both dogs to Dr. Dahl in Clarksville, who treated them, then Lise took them home with her until we got back home the next week. Lola was the worst case of the two, so we kept her until her leg would be healed (the other companion found her furever home right away). After the long duration of helping Lola, we all (Jim, me, and Lucy and JoJo) fell in love with her and couldn’t part with her. During her stay at the Burnett’s, Ellen named her Lola because she ‘walks like a girl but talks like a man’. Lola was a barker, she protected everyone she loved. She was with her humans, Jim and I, for 15 years. It is difficult to say “see you later” after such a long time. Everyone that met Lola, loved her. Her sisters would sometimes get into some tifs trying to protect her – she was the baby sister. When Hannah came along, she would follow Hannah everywhere (if a human wasn’t available to accompany). Where you found one, the other was close by. We will miss her ever watchful
eye on us. She was a true guardian and companion!
